Cisco Phone Copy App Summary

Quick overview of the phonecopy application:

This is what the app looks like, missing lines 2 thru 5 which extend down below line 1.

The Excel application has four main areas:

The search area: Columns A thru D

Finds and list phones by searching for the description or by the device pool of the phones. This section shows the results pulled from the Cal Manager in three columns that display the phones description, devicename and model. This is to help the operator decide what phones they need to work with. It has a fourth column where you can manually add a new MAC address/es that could be used when creating physical 8841 phones.

The import preview area: Column G

Once the phone has been found, the phone is selected and more details are imported from the Call manager on the phone and line/s into the import preview area. This section will display the phone device configuration such as device pool device CSS, etc. and information for up to 5 lines from the phone. These details are shown since they will be converted over to the new model phone.

Label area and phone model selection: Column H

These are mainly labels used by both the import and the create preview areas. There are also buttons along the top to select the model phone to be created. When a button is clicked, it will fill out the Create preview area.

The Create preview area: Column I

This is the last preview area, before the phone details are sent to the CUCM creating a new phone once clicking the Create Phone button. In this area changes can be made such as descriptions or add/remove a line, before the phone is created in the Call manager.

Here is a quick video demo of how the application works

Keep in mind this app was created specifically for our enterprise environment so some options taken may seem strange or not fit well in other environments. One thing, this app will only pull in general phone lines, not intercom or BLF lines.
